  • Your Shape Healthy Snack Challenge Results

    A few weeks ago we had a healthy snack challenge for the Your Shape participants. We tasked each participant with planning their snacks for an entire week and they needed to be healthy. They could come up with a new recipe, buy something pre-made or just come up with any sort of creative snacking alternatives. 

    We gave them a week, a gift card and a told them to surprise us. Here is what they came up with:
    Jodi from Multitasking Mommy went nuts. Literally. Her main snack food is nuts. She says, “I find that they are a great snack IF (and only if) I stick with a small portion.” Jodi also purchased Genesis Today Acai Berry juice. She planned her week out and did well when it came to snacks. 
    Kim from Crafty Mama of 4 did a Whrrl of her participation in the snack challenge and wrote a blog post about the challenge. She bought grapes and froze them for a snack. Kim also says that she eats two oranges a day. She also tried the Creamsicle and Weight Watchers frozen novelties and more. She had me at the Hostess 100 Calorie snack packs. Mmmmmm…She even shared a few, yummy sounding recipes. 
    Beth from Plus Size Mommy went with simple yet effective snacks. She had bananas, Fiber One bars, Craisins, granola nut clusters and nuts. Beth did a great job eating healthy snacks this week.
    Stefanie from Mommy Musings “bought grapefruit, bananas, apples, pears, spinach (to make smoothies) and yogurt.” She “also got some snack food items like Kashi bars, cereal, Klondike 100 calorie bars and some pickles- what a great snack for only 5 calories!”  She is also “hoping these snacks will give me the pick-me-up I need to get back on track and start losing weight for the last 5 weeks of the challenge.”
    Elizabeth from Busy Mom did a Whrrl about her snacking habits. She spends a lot of time in the car and at sporting events. Her snacks need to be portable and healthy which is always a challenge. Hard boiled eggs, carrots, apples, Craisins, rice snacks and more. 
    Kelly from A Centsible Life did a Whrrl as well. She bought Sun Chips, canned beans to make dip, nuts, low calorie beverages and more. Kelly got a lot of great snacks for the money. She even wrote a great blog post about snacking where she shares a lot of her favorite snack ideas. 
    Toni from A Daily Dose of Toni went the taste route for her snacks. She did look for low calorie but she wanted them to taste good as well. She bought Fuze, Sobe, rice snacks, granola bars, cheese and yogurt.
